(Not Quite) All About Me"words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic." Ever since I can remember, I've wanted to write. The preferred genres have changed, of course, bouncing from short stories to novels, blogs to news articles, human interest stories to technical pieces... Truthfully, I've loved it all, and I've found passion in the simple act of writing - if not in the content itself.
I was given a taste of what it's like to combine my passions and skills while interning at The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, where I worked closely with impassioned activists striving to create positive change in civil and human rights policy. While amongst these inspiring individuals, I had the opportunity to draft an opinion editorial on behalf of the organization's former CEO. The editorial, published in USA Today, considered the appointment of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and his predicted policies at the Department of Justice. I have seen what writing can do - in my own life and in the lives of those around me - and I've learned along the way that someone, somewhere, will always benefit from the written word. With that in mind, whatever form of writing I'm tackling on a given day, I will aim to have a positive effect on the lives of others as well as on my own. No matter where I am in my career and in the world, I'll always be moving, advocating, reading Harry Potter and doing what I love most - writing. After all, as only J.K. Rowling could tell us, "words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic." |
